Disordered Variations
Interactive Installation Prototype
“Disordered Variations” stands as a prototype for an interactive audio installation . Consists a collaborative product of Danae Tsadima & Costas Frantzis. It is inspired by the concept of entropy. Invites the visitor to discover and interact with the changes of a complex feedback system, which constantly generates new orders/disorders, which are formed in real time.
The installation uses proximity sensors that map the space and shape the sound according to the visitor's movement/behavior. The algorithmic "instrument" LithOSC, a construction of stones, completes the soundscape with the conscious interaction of the visitor.
Cymatics are used to visualize entropy, which is the core of the system's internal feedback. The visitor is invited to explore the different shapes that arise in the water and connect them to the percentage of entropy.
